PJ: I've always wondered why 'truth in advertising' laws do not extend to political ads. Voting for the right candidate that shares your vision is important; learning the truth about your chosen candidate is essential. Advertisers are held accountable for claims they make about toothpaste, breakfast cereals and the miles/per/gallon of a Ford focus. But for some reason, that I have never understood, it is acceptable to make false claims about yourself or your opponent during election season. When trying to decide who to vote for for the most important job in a nation, shouldn't political ads face the same rigours of truthfulness as your mouthwash?

We've Gone "Craigs List"

This week we're selling our house to the Chicago area. In a couple of weeks we'll try Boston, then New York and maybe Buffalo. Craig lets us do one city at a time. We will always have it listed in some city around the country. Now if everyone we knew who had a Craigs List account would copy and paste our add, then listed it with their account, they could be advertising for us in a different city. Which of course then, a commission is in order for that person if they got an interested party in contact with Bic'n'I which would let us get that party in contact with our friend Bob (the realtor) who would then get it to Kathy at Coldwell Banker and it SELLS!!! Everybody gets a win.

We also have a bunch of regular stuff going on there.

Feeling a whole lot blah yesterday I decided to cash in my copper and such to help cheer my mood. First thing when I pull in the guy asks if I'm a licensed heat and air contractor. I told him no and said that he would not be able to buy the radiators (the three largest things over on the left). Crap! I kinda new about that deal so I broke them down as much as I could hoping they would take them anyway. Nope! So we weigh up all the brass, lead, aluminum, bronze and copper, but not those two big heavy loaded with copper radiators. I got two cash tickets, one with the lead, brass, aluminum and bronze...$200.00, and the one for copper...$625.00. That's right, that is not a typo, $825.00 without the radiators.

I think I'll strip the old telephone pole and old pump house of copper too, along with some old plumbing fittings I have I should be able to harvest another couple of hundred bucks.

These original pictures were taken 4 years ago. The boat has not been in the water since then, only due to me not having any time. It has been stored in my cellar for three years and has spent the last year outside covered.

The Finale

Well now, company is still here but will be leaving at a slowed pace somewhere around noon. What a great break for Bic'n I. We spent most all day on Malihini going further up the river than we had ever gone. She ran beautifully and without a hitch all day. This was good because this was the FIRST time we had her off the slip all year. Also, on Saturday we had another local realtor come up and see the house and she posed some numbers way, way higher than the previous three who saw the house while still deep in interior re- construction. Who knows, maybe we'll get a bigger chunk of the pie than we thought.

This should be our last week putting the final projects to rest, with only window cleaning and pressure washing and stone retainer wall building and trim the driveway and get in firewood and fix that darn outdoor receptacle and get some 3/4 stone for the landscaping and finish that dang glass door for the bathroom and get the wire chase in the cellar covered and hang the ceiling in the new laundry room and put a handrail on the cellar stairs and add that little shelf in the kitchen and paint the floor and all the doors in the cellar that more than likely have lead paint on them and, and, and, and, and, and, sell all our unwanted stuff and.............unchain ourselves from the beast.
