First Time
All this time working on "Malihini" out of the water and then finally in the water since we've been here in TN, on Saturday I took the dingy out of the cellar, took it to the boat towed it to a friends cove where he was having a bonfire party. Threw out the anchor, and settled the boat in for the night. Then for the very first time, I got into a dingy from "Malihini" and rowed away. Ahhhh, what a feeling, knowing that my bed waits for me in this quiet little cove!

Let Me Bore You More
OK after cutting templates, transfering them to the ply, I coated top and bottom of the rough cut ply with epoxy. That let me safely handle, transport, and get them on the boat and to finish fit. That was yesterday and it was a tough day being an old fart like me. Imagine in a little space handling big ply that you have to be carefull not to damage it, or damage any other parts of the boat. Cutting, rasping, banging in place, pulling pieces outside without a ladder in the compainionway because it can't be there to lay the sole, in and out, climb and jump, careful not to damage, cut some more, plane to fit, nah nah nah nah nah nah...........
OK, so now I feel confident that the next time I fit these pieces, I can screw them in place and everything will line up and look like I know what I'm doing, but in fact I'm just bumbling along one step at a time.
So here we have them back at the shop where I can rough cut out the center floor boards, that will be removeable with solid teak edges so they won't damage the plywood when taken in and out. Did I mention that everything has to line up right down the centerline of the boat so it looks like "a real guy" did it?
So next, is hang all these pieces so I can saturate all the edges with some thinned down epoxy, at least two coats on all edges and I'll recoat the bottom. It's a long, time consuming job, to properly put plywood in a wet damp marine environment, like the bottom of a boat.
Then I get to glu and shmoo it all down nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
