The Worst Smell In The World ........Has Some Pink In It
While working on Chrismi II [80 ft Maxi sailboat] in the Caribbean
, I went snorkling and found me a huge one of these. The locals said, to get the meat out, you got to punch a hole in the pointy part. I didn't want to, so I asked around, and someone said," just put him in fresh water for a couple of days and he'll come out on his own". So, I put him in a bucket of fresh water up at the bow and kept an eye on him. First day, nothing, second day, he was looking pretty sick, third day, he was a tad, puffed out, looking ugly. Thought I'd give him a yank with my hand, so I pulled him out of the bucket......AHHHHHH....AHHHHHH...OH MY GOD HELP ME!....AHHHHH. The Stink !!!!!!!!I would'nt throw him away, no way. At that moment all I wanted to do was throw it in the harbor, or anywhere away from me! It was SOOO gross and I DID NOT DARE to touch that slimy, mushy, putrid thing. So I whipped a line around the whole shell, dropped him into the water at the bow, and tied it off. Everyone on the boat and the general area around the boat [we were tied to a dock] freaked, it smelt so bad. Two or three days later, it finally slimed itself out of the shell and I had me a perfect conch shell, just like the one in this pic. It was Magnificent! I gave it to a special lady in Industry, Maine.

Gonna Make It Pretty
This is what Bic used to do to make money, but now it is I who must strip the varnish, sand the wood, mask the edges, vacume the whole area, wipe down the wood with acetone, tack rag the surface and proceed to apply coat after coat of a finish the owner chooses.
There are many more pieces of wood on this boat that will get the same tender loving treatment from me.

Meet My Older Brother And His Lovely Wife
Stopped by for a visit on the way home to Nottingham, NH. They just completed a new "winter" home in Bushnell, FL on a small airport with all new houses and hangers being built on the runway. [well really just off, the runway] A community of like minded people who like to fly in the sky.
Oh, it's there 35th wedding anniversary
yesterday!
