These are boats I personally know....".Shamrock V", JK3 and little "Cora" with the red sails. Carpenter on Shamrock 3 months in Newport RI and Falmouth, England . And "Cora " was my home in Antigua for a winter. I've known the captain of "White Fin" ...awhile.
Look at

"The Floating Post"----------- Revisited

I find these very attractive too.

Getting Bored Yet?

OK, enough with my daily report on this job, don't you think?

"The Floating Post"

Big ship, big seas. Try this in a 55 ft sail boat, only leave out the blue skies. They only come at the end of the storm!

Weather Window....Extension

got 3 more nice days coming
Trim primed and ready
Also gonna cheat that ridge over to the left a tad.

11/25/06

..I'm happy with my progress for two days.
All but the end two eave extensions [can't see in these pics] are nailed and plump cut. The portico roof has been roughly laid out enough to know what I'm going to do there, so I can concentrate on getting the eaves closed up.
Bondo gave me a call this morning, which made me feel good, real good, to know he's keeping an eye on me. As most of you probably know, I was really hoping he could make it out here to TN this fall to help me, but a man's got to do, what a man's got to do, and he's just to darn busy doin what he's got to do. I get it!! But I'll keep hoping that maybe next year at this time I can get his butt out to the east coast here and he and I,can do something together again, on the back side of this house. Shit, the boat might even be usable by then. If thats what it took, I'd do it!!!!

..Trying to keep a level head on this job!

If you click on the pic, and then click in the lower right corner, you might get an idea of the view from this property. I'm sure we'll need the full 5 year plan to get this all together. If you can see it , thats Watts Bar Lake and the town of Kingston on the left.

Gots To Come Up With a Plan.

One by twelve top plate J-bolted into the cinder block wall, and hanging over the brick overlay. Slash in a 2 by 4 on that rafter, ....think I'll be OK.

Thank You

Thank You

It's the day of the big bird.

In response to complaints -- and pleas for help -- the town of Brookline distributed pamphlets telling people how to handle aggressive turkeys.

But "you still don't trust those turkeys you see now," Dionne says. "It doesn't take much for them to go berserk."

One effective method: Establish a little "turkey dominance" by giving them a good whack with a broom or chasing them with an open umbrella.

Try one of these.

To anyone who might have had the misfourtune of attempting to comment on this blog, most recent the 22d...... sorry, I had a badly timed brain fart recently, at my blogger dashboard. It left some comment adjuster, enabled , without me really knowing what I did. I think I fixed it! Unabled???

Kooky Keek?
Another morning with not a lot to post. Gotta go back to do a 30 min. job cause he didn't have the mirrors in, or the door and drawer pulls, or the fancy hinges for a gosh darn tiny little door.

A Pile of Fake Stiles and Rails

Made these up this weekend so I could,.............................................. get this job done!!!

In Place, Ready for Polly Olly Saturate Me!

Don't you love that cabinit up behind the top of the fridge? How about that dish drain to the right of the sink? A nice dish rack goes there. Thats why I had to cut that pantry drawer off at the top.

The Big Drawers

Bob got a coat of poly on them, and the side of the panel, before I got a chance to get the fake stiles and rails on, which you can see on the left.
I'm aware that a lot of you might not know what I'm talking about here, but there are some, who do get it. Yes, I did cap and cover all the end grain and plywood in those drawers. I love being able to finish up on the details!!

Happy Anniversary To Us ! Saturday

We picked the 18th so it would be easyier for me to remember, cause it's also my late dads B-Day!
7th out of 11, on the second time round hitched. 13 out of 18 total together years. And I'm real happy she's back home! Hopefully she'll stay nice to me.

Now really on the seventh it should have been copper flowers like these, but I'm sure the pink roses will dooooooo.

And once it gets there, it will hang around for about as long as a copper rose!

11/15/06

Well hey everybody. How you all doin? I've been having some hard days because I had to many easy days, if 'n you know what I mean. I'm not fond of being up against the ropes, so to speak.....White truck dead... window still in living room...staging up but nothing done yet...driveway almost done , but not....house clean, but not real clean, Bic will be home tomorrow....Bob wants his bar slash kitchen done by Turky day...NOT...Sheetrocks going fast on the next job I'm starting... Feeling a little pressure here...I hate, hate , hate it, when I don't have time to do my own thing! Thats what semi-retired is all about, isn't that right Frankie? Buy the way Frankie, how cool to meet your neighbor, Sarah Simpson, you didn't know her then, but thats changed now. Now you know her history, and that truly changes how you know her. You should get to know her! Good neighbors are worth more than gold!!
So, I hope all who visit this post don't feel the pressure I'm experiencing right now, but please bare with me while I share it. We all have our days ehh?

First two pieces in.

Third piece in. That makes it Done!

Great working for a guy who has some vision, and knows just what he wants! He's been dreaming of this bar [so I'm told] for years, about the time his kids became teenagers. I'm glad he found me to help make his dream bar. Should be hanging doors and drawers tomorrow. Were almost done exept, the stairs, [there will be glass in them too] and a whole nother real kitchen in the addition thats coming.

Bean Town

I snaped this in Sept. when Bic and I headed down to Cape Codfish. Part of the BIG DIG. Billions and billions of $$$$$$$

It's called the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge.

I wish we were sailing again. You know, Jimmy's tunes are playing from the cockpit speakers in this photo. 3rd or 4th day north from Antiqua to Long Island, NY.
On passage, with set watches [4 on 4 off, 4 on 6 off, 3 on 6 off, 6 on day, 4 on night, 3 on 3 off, or even, 2 on 2 off, whatever the Captain decides,] it always takes a few days to catch up on your sleep, unless of course it's shitty weather, then your lucky if you do, catch up.
This photo....we all caught up!

I can't wait till morning

I predict, now that the elections are over, the big oil companys will get surprised that winter is coming, and Oh gosh, we don't have enough surplus, so we have to raise the prices. They been using that one for a long time, I'm expecting a new reason this winter. Whatever the reason, I know, I know, I know, gas will not stay this cheap. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

"Avery Trace"..First trail across TN to Nashville and Memphis

First there was just a canoe, then some smart guy built him a ferry and made some dough. The ferry's got bigger as the years rolled by, right up to the horseless carriage. Then they had steel and rivets and built the big green thing you can see on the left. It was a scary drive across that old bridge, very skinny, The're dismantling by crane the small sections [on the barge] and will blow up the main span into the river, and pick it up in pieces. BOOM! It's a shame to lose that old bridge, wish they just could of added wings or something!
Our house sits on the hill in the far left of this photo. I can just makeout where our house sits. We look right down on this bridge and will be able to see it blow, BOOM

Beautiful Watts Bar Lake, East Tennessee

Not a bad looking dammed up river.

The Last Nuke Plant Built In The US

Watts Bar Nuke..
One, went on line in 1996
Two, stopped constuction in 1994, but was never officially cancelled. No doubt they been sneaking around and finished it.

Yes, they have round bottoms. We have more than a dozen that I excavated from our old house in Cape Cod.
We know what they were used for,......Do You?

White truck is in the depths of the cellar, getting itself into the zone to be ready for, human indused disembowelment. I'm gonna tear her belly out, and lay it on the floor.
Let's make one thing perfectly clear, this undertaking is way, way not my favorite kind of thing to do. But a truck payment, would hurt for a much longer time. Ain't going junkyard....doing remanufactured. Thank goodness I kept the green truck!
There you go Frankie!
Had to register the green truck today, white trucks slipping away. New tranny, junkyard style..750$ shipped to my house. Thats 1/16 of a 12,ooo$ truck. This kind of math tears at my guts, you know?

11/5/06

Didn't feel like adding a post this morning. After reading yesterdays post, and comments, felt I had to sit with that a little longer just as it was. Maybe I'll take a break of sorts.

" The Glass Post "....In Memory of ....Charles

Bics most important work, which hangs in the church that her family has gone to all there lives.
Her brother Charlie, who was very sick with cancer at the time, and his wife Cindy, commissioned her to create a piece that they could dedicate to there parents, and be installed in the new wing of the church. Bic was frantic to finish, as Charlie became more and more sick. He arrived home that day from his radiation treatment, to find his whole family and pastor crowded into his house, to witness his first sight of the stained glass his little sister had done for him. He hadn't seen the piece till that day. Many happy tears fell that day. Charlie, never got to see that piece installed in the church, he left us on this day, November 4, in the year 2000. We all miss you Charlie.

Yes,... we do seem a little more compfy out front?

The truth is........
It's all just a farce, makes you blogosphere folks think McNarff is really getting something done.
It makes us laugh. [when he's not looking of course] He only raked just behind us, for this shot.

Magnolia

We have two, of these huge Magnolias in our front yard. They are so crowded with other growth, they never really came out with a full bloom this year. This winter in my spare time, should I clear all around the Magnolias, or should the clearing be focused on the view towards the lake and Kingston ?

"Caprifol"
First time hauled out at Quissett Harbour Boatyard.
We stayed 8 years in that harbour. The only buisness in it , was that boatyard, with it's old fashioned ways. Heaven for sailors, in a safe harbour. Thank you, Weath, Rick, and Bruce.

3-D Rose

After messing around with nothing but 90 degrees, on cabinets and such, I felt like expanding to your basic 45 degrees. I've had something in the back of my mind, since way back, when working at my first boatshop as a machinist. There were boxes of these three dimensional stars cast out of bronze. My job was to clean all the surfaces and make them with nice sharp lines. The work was extensive, mundane, and dirty. Well, after progressing from there into the world of sailing and the compass, I knew someday I'd make me a compass rose like those stars..............

Squall coming, and dipshit on helm did exactly what I told her NOT to do ! Captain had to come on deck and take me up the mizzen to rerun the mizzen preventer. Cruising at 8 knots, it would have sucked if something happened and I went SPLASH. [ but it was really kind of fun hanging out there]

Hope You Had A Great Halloween
