Timberwind

A ways back, this vessel
was my job and home. As mate, the duty's were many, the food was beyond words, with all you could eat anytime you could make it to the gally. When the 20 guests were on board, that wasn't often. The food was the same every week, every day, except Wednesday or Thursday when we would plan to buy locally, fresh lobster for all the guests and pick an isolated island to have a little, shore party. The reason for the two days depended on the weather. No engine in this boat! No winches, just blocks and tackle. You pulled on lines all day, as your hands turn to leather. Even the cooks stove was fueled with wood, which we loaded on board every week.

She is a Schooner. Also , never been out of Maine waters. She's what you call a Pilot Schooner. The harbour pilots would hang offshore Portland waiting for foreign vessels. Then a pilot would board the foreign boat and guide it into the harbour. The rest of the pilots just hang till the next boat. Check the website!
